What to do right now
Call us
Call (305) 829-0100. Tell us what happened and when it started.
Manage the pain
Rinse with warm salt water and use a cold compress on the outside of your cheek. Over-the-counter pain relievers may help if they're safe for you.
Come in
We'll examine the area, take any X-rays needed, explain what we find and relieve the pain first.
Emergencies we can help with
Severe toothache
Throbbing or constant pain often means a deep cavity or infection. We'll find the cause and relieve the pain.
Broken or cracked tooth
Save any pieces, rinse gently with warm water and call us. Many broken teeth can be repaired with bonding or a crown.
Knocked-out tooth
Time matters. Hold the tooth by the crown (not the root), keep it moist in milk and call right away.
Swelling or infection
Facial swelling, a pimple on the gum or a bad taste can signal an abscess that needs prompt care.
Lost crown or filling
Keep the crown if you have it and avoid chewing on that side. We'll protect the tooth and re-cement or replace it.
Pain after an extraction
Some soreness is normal, but pain that gets worse after a few days should be checked.
Questions patients ask us.
Same-day emergency visits may be available. Call (305) 829-0100 as early in the day as you can and we'll do our best to see you as soon as possible.
Severe tooth pain, a knocked-out or badly broken tooth, swelling, an infection, or bleeding that won't stop are all reasons to call right away. If you're not sure, call us and we'll help you decide.
Go to the ER or call 911 if you have trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that's spreading to your eye or neck, a high fever, or uncontrolled bleeding. For most tooth pain, a dentist is the right place to treat the cause.
It depends on what's needed. The exam and X-rays are often covered in part by insurance. We'll explain what we find and the cost of any treatment before we start.
Let's take care of your smile.
