Dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth. A complete denture replaces all the teeth in the upper or lower arch and rests on your gums. A partial denture fills gaps when you still have some healthy natural teeth, using small clasps or attachments to hold on. Both are custom made from impressions of your mouth so they suit your face, bite and smile.

Missing teeth affect more than looks. They can make chewing harder, change the way you speak and cause nearby teeth to shift. Without support, the cheeks and lips may also start to look sunken. A well-made denture helps restore your smile, supports your facial features and makes everyday eating easier. It can also help you feel more relaxed in photos and conversations.

At Progressive Dental Office in Hialeah, we take time to get the details right. Dr. Jonathan Guzman and Dr. Jovanny Guzman help you choose tooth shape and shade, check the fit at each stage and adjust until it feels comfortable. If you want more stability, we can also talk about implant-supported options. We'll also show you how to care for your new teeth at home.

Is this right for you?

  • You are missing several teeth or a full arch
  • Your current denture is loose, cracked or worn
  • Gaps make it hard to chew or speak clearly
  • Remaining teeth are shifting into open spaces
  • You need teeth removed and want a plan to replace them
  • You want a removable, non-surgical way to replace teeth
What to expect

How it works, step by step.

1

Exam and options

We check your gums, bone and any remaining teeth, then explain whether a complete or partial denture makes sense for you.

2

Impressions and records

We take detailed impressions and bite measurements so the lab can build a denture shaped to your mouth.

3

Try-in visit

You try a wax model of your new teeth so we can check fit, bite and appearance before the final denture is made.

4

Delivery and adjustments

We place your finished denture, show you how to care for it and schedule follow-ups to fine-tune any sore spots.

Your comfort

Making dentures involves impressions and fittings, not surgery, so most visits are simple and comfortable. New dentures can feel bulky at first, and small sore spots are common in the first few weeks. Let us know right away, because a quick adjustment often makes a big difference. If extractions are part of your plan, we'll explain your numbing and comfort options at your consultation.

Healing & aftercare

Most people need a few weeks to get used to new dentures. Start with soft foods cut into small pieces, and practice reading aloud to help your speech adjust. Remove and clean your denture daily, and keep it moist when you're not wearing it. Your gums and bone change over time, so dentures typically need relining or replacing every several years. Regular checkups help keep them fitting well.

Cost, insurance & financing

The cost of dentures depends on whether you need a complete or partial denture, the materials used, how many teeth are being replaced and whether extractions or other preparation is needed first. Many dental insurance plans cover part of the cost of dentures. We accept CareCredit and are happy to discuss financing options. We give you the cost before we start, so you can plan with confidence.

FAQ

Common questions

The process usually takes several visits over a few weeks, from impressions to the try-in to the final fitting. If teeth need to be removed first, healing time may add to the timeline. We'll give you a clear schedule at your consultation.

A complete denture replaces all the teeth in one arch and rests on the gums. A partial denture replaces some teeth and attaches to your remaining natural teeth with clasps or other attachments. Keeping healthy natural teeth when possible helps support your bite and bone.

Most people can return to a wide variety of foods with practice. Start with soft foods and chew slowly using both sides of your mouth. Very hard, sticky or chewy foods can be harder to manage. If chewing stays difficult, implant-supported dentures may offer more stability.

In some cases, yes. An immediate denture is made ahead of time and placed right after extractions, so you aren't without teeth while you heal. Because your gums change as they heal, it will need adjustments or a reline later. We'll tell you if this is an option for you.

Signs include a denture that feels loose, slips when you talk, causes sore spots or traps food underneath. Over time, your gums and bone naturally change shape. A reline reshapes the inside of the denture for a better fit. Bring your denture to a checkup and we'll take a look.
